What We Do

Now is the time for U.S. banks of all sizes to consider bank apprenticeships.

Our Mission

Rarely adopted in the United States, bank apprenticeships are widespread and highly successful in the U.K.

U.K banks have identified gaps in skill sets (especially IT, Tech and software) that have been filled more successfully through apprenticeship programs than through more traditional means. The programs have been cost effective and have led to substantially higher retention rates compared to hiring from universities.

Despite the shortage of qualified candidates to hire, many U.S. banks have not even considered bank apprenticeships.

For those who cannot attend college or choose not to (many from disadvantaged backgrounds), bank apprenticeships offer them an opportunity to have a banking career.

Our mission is to act as a clearinghouse and support the US banking industry’s efforts to adopt and implement a bank apprenticeship program, increase the opportunities for high school graduates who cannot or decide not to attend or remain in college, and assist banks in identifying new and heretofore undiscovered talent.

“BARC is exactly what the US banking industry needs.”
